🚀 This Week's Amazon Hack: 3 Simple Insert Card Hacks

A few weeks ago, I asked readers what topics I should write about in the future. Insert cards came up A LOT.

I'm honestly not that surprised. Insert cards are truly one of the few customized marketing hacks left in 2024.

Thankfully, Amazon has very loose rules for insert cards! You can go simple or go super detailed like this one:

There are really only 3 hacks that you need to worry about when it comes to insert cards.

Be LOUD

Don't be shy. You have a split second to get your Amazon customer to take action and leave a review. When I say "be loud", I'm referring to the format and styling of your request. Make it front and center. Big, bold font. Ironically, the example above doesn't do a good job at this. Some sellers even go so far as to include a large red stop sign followed by a request to leave a review.

You can include a URL link, QR code, or just tell the customer to leave a review on their app. Let's be honest, 99% know where to find their orders.

Whatever you do, DO NOT try to manipulate the customer to leave a 5-star review. Yes, that even means that if/then statements are out too. Really, anything outside of "please leave us a review on Amazon" is playing with fire.

Plug Social!

This is something that very few do with their insert cards so this is your cue to do it while everyone is sleeping. Add a strongly worded ask to have them head over to your social media channels, add a picture, and tag your brand! It's highly effective for driving engagement outside of Amazon and serves a dual purpose of creating FREE UGC content that you can then recycle on your own feed and advertising campaigns.

Be Brand Story Focused

This is a golden opportunity to share more about YOUR story. Do you really think most of your competitors are focused on branding? Nope! Use this to your advantage. Do you partner with any charities? Mention it on your insert card. Do you have a unique founder's story? Mention it on your insert card.

Done right, these three insert card hacks can result in 7-10% review rates. I can attest to this as well as my many clients. Don't sleep on insert cards.

And definitely stop being paranoid about using them! I can't tell you how many times I've seen misinformation out there about using them. Amazon encourages them. Just follow their rules and you will be fine.


🔥 Hot Amazon Seller News: 200% BSR Boost

I don't have any Amazon related Amazon news this week but I do have a Prime Day tip for you!

I'm assuming you've already 3-5x'd your PPC campaign budgets for these two days but make sure you keep those budgets padded past the 17th and go as far out as the 24th then drop them back down.

Sellers who take this approach see a 200%+ boost in BSR compared to sellers who only increased budgets for July 16 and 17.

This is called the "Amazon Halo Effect" and it's very real. This is similar to my recommendations to do regular Lightning Deals at specific times of the year to juice BSR.

If you zoom out, all of these efforts done correctly will spill over into Q4 and hopefully get you the elusive Best Seller badge.
